CRISTA Sambhar Masala is our own proprietary spice blend of coarse whole and ground premium grade aromatic spices. The word “Sambhar” has its origins in Tamil Nadu, and is immensely popular in South Indian cuisine. It can be served with rice, idli or vada amongst other South Indian specialties and is also served as a side dish for dosa. Freshly machine ground using our sophisticated hammer crushers and micro pulverizers, the blend is mixed in an automatic GMP blender to achieve the desired balance and consistency. Quality Control

Open the packet and empty the contents into an airtight container. Avoid using a wet spoon in the packet.

Tightly close the container immediately after use and return it to a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Under ideal conditions, spice blends will keep for 12 months.


Suggested Recipe - Serves: 6 | Cooking time: 30 mins

Step 1 : Pressure cook 1 cup toor dal (split red gram). Boil 1½ cups mixed vegetables, potatoes, brinjals and drumsticks separately. Cut two large onions and tomatoes in big pieces and keep aside.

Step 2 : Soak 1 cup tamarind in ¼ cup water for 15 mins. Strain and keep aside. In a kadai, heat 1½ tbsp of oil. Add curry leaves, 1 tsp mustard seeds, turmeric, asafoetida and 2 green chillies.

Step 3 : Add the onions and tomatoes to the mix. Fry for 3 mins. Lastly, add 2 tbsp of CRISTA Sambhar Masala, fry for one minute and add the dal, vegetables, tamarind water and salt.
